Playfulness Connects the Enterprise
Can you get 100s of conference participants happily on their feet at 6:00 AM in Las Vegas of all places? You can. #RunWithTheWolfpack Playfulness helped break down corporate barriers and literally made Geeks and Suits embrace each other at an SAP event with thousands of participants. #HugASuit. In this keynote, you will learn how to set up an environment of trust to ensure playfulness will flourish in an organization. How playful we are is a direct indicator on the state of our well being. The same is true for the well being of an enterprise. Learn how to best set up Community Advocacy Groups (a.k.a. Enterprise Tribes) to maximize playfulness in your organization.
As if a magician, Mark Finnern creates communities from thin air around work, ideas, and local playfulness. Recently Mark Finnern founded Playful Enterprise a boutique consultancy where he brings his “magic” social technology for community to organizations ready to engage their enterprise tribes. As SAP Chief Community Evangelist he developed and ran the SAP Mentor Initiative. The SAP Mentors are the top ~ 150 community influencers of the SAP Ecosystem of ~3 million members. At the 10 year anniversary, the community voted him as the “real founder” of SAP Community Network for his Don Finleone performance. (He was also voted most likely to join the circus….)
Since 2003, Mark has hosted the Future Salon he founded, a get together of a group of eclectic change makers curious about a world that works for all. At TEDx he shared his 5 ideas on how to bring our schools into the 21st century. Mark also initiated Sandwich and Play, a weekly informal play time of families in the San Mateo Highlands. He also founded and led the San Mateo Highlands Renegade Marching Band to two consecutive best of 4th of July parade wins. While it may seem like a romp at the circus, Mark Finnern’s magic is about creating the conditions and culture for community to thrive.
The Difference Between Snow Flurries, Snowstorms & Snow Falls.
Luke Hohmann's keynote is called "The Difference Between Snow Flurries, Snowstorms, and Snow Falls." Agile has jumped the chasm and is now an accepted part of the business world, but the agile values and practices we all hold dear affect more than just our work. The principles affect all aspects of our lives. They also affect our schools, our relationships, even how we choose to practice democracy. Luke will show how collaborative, social, and serious games have blossomed into multidimensional frameworks. Many of these games have roots within the Agile community. These frameworks are making the world a better place in simple and profound ways. Often this is in no way related to software at all.
Luke grew up in a place which was cold and often had a lot of snow. A snow flurry is a lot of activity with no accumulation. Typically frustrating. A snowstorm is just a wreck. A snow fall is a nicer, more gentle accumulation of real results. Luke will use the snow metaphor to frame his subject. He will make distinctions between talking past each other (a snow flurry), arguing (a snowstorm) and true collaboration (a snow fall). Finally, Luke will provide you with clear actionable advice on how you can improve one of the most fundamental agile practices – retrospectives.
Luke is the Founder and CEO of Conteneo, Inc. Conteneo’s collaborative frameworks and data analytics helps enterprises optimize decision making. They span areas of strategy, innovation, business agility and market research. Luke is also co-founder of Every Voice Engaged Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. They help citizens and governments tackle technical and wicked social problems.
